Golden day at the Domain
Congratulations to the strong Clarence turn out at the Domain for the State Walks & Multi Event championships on Sunday, 7 February. Highlighting some wonderful individual performances were Jaiden Estcourt (U9B) & Tom Kemp (U10B) won gold medals, and Hannah Richardson (U11G) bronze in their respective race walks. Matthew Hosie (U12B) won his multi event, breaking Hamish Peacock's old under 12 outside record for discus in the process. Other medalists were Molly Foale (U10G) & Jaksen Broom (U10B) who won bronze in multi events. Other outstanding performances were from Tim Coad who broke the outside record for the U13 boys long jump with a leap of 4.79m, Julia Minnucci smashed the U14 girls 800m outside record with a time of 2:43.6, and Alex Bessell broke an 18 year old U13 boys 800m outside record with his time of 2:37.6. Hurdles Training On Again This Tuesday
Paul Mommers from Huon Valley Little Aths will be running a second hurdles training session at Kangaroo Bay this Tuesday 9 February from 5pm until 6pm. The session will feature appropriate preparation & stretching for hurdles and hurdling technique. Paul's sessions were a highlight of the recent U12 & U13 training camp at Port Sorell & this session is a must for all who aim to improve their hurdling results. The session is open to all registered athletes from any TLAA centre. Bookings not required & entry is free.
Centre Championships Off & Running
Our Centre Championship events commenced on Wednesday 27th with the 800m. This Saturday 13th will be day 1 of the full championship events. During those events, only CLAC registered athletes who have previously competed twice in the event (at least once at CLAC), and are wearing their 25 events badge and full centre uniform (shirt, black shorts, sponsorship badges) can compete. A $7 entry fee applies to all athletes for the entire Centre Championship program. Please enter at the registration desk.

Julia Minnucci has once again lowered the Under 14 girls 1500m record in the Championship running of this event on Saturday 6 Feb. Her time of 5:35.8 took more than a second off her own record. Lidia Attrill set a joint record in the under 9 girls 60m hurdles on the same day. Her time of 12.0s ties her with Madeline Direen who set the record in 2003. Terrific performances girls!
